Inspiring Teaching, Inspiring Learning
About the ANTF
The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme was started by the Higher Education Funding Council for England in 1999 with the first awards in the year 2000. The awards recognised excellence in learning and teaching in Higher Education and winners were chosen through a criterion referenced process judged by their peers. If you wish to know more, you can read a review of the scheme and its impact in the 'NTF 10th Anniversary Celebration' issue of Learning Exchange
The Association of National Teaching Fellows (ANTF) was formed in 2005 by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and the leader of the Interim co-ordination group whose task was to establish the Association. This group were subsequently superceeded by the first elected Committee of the Association, chaired by Bob Rotheram. The Association is unfunded but supported by the HEA in its administration. Membership is automatic for anyone who is awarded a National Teaching Fellowship.
If you would like to know how you can become an NTF, go to the HEA website or click the link at the top of the page.
The 2010 Fellows received their awards in September and three of them have been invited to join the Committee of the Association.
The call for applications for the 2011 awards went out in January and details can be found on the HEA website.
Our site is an opportunty for Fellows to share their activities, contribute to the Association and demonstrate to a wide audience the benefits that National Teaching Fellows bring to the wider Higher Education community. Its both a resource and an opportunity to disseminate your activities. Please help us to make it a true reflection of NTF activity by contributing your stories and ideas.
